HEAD CANON | MISC. INFO

♒ Age... so Saint Seiya has a pretty vague timeline. Basically the bronze saints all seemed to have trained for about 6 years with their mentors, pressumably there was a training period before they were sent off in order to prepare their body for crazy saint training which I assume to be 6 months at least. Hyoga is 14 at the beginning of the series so he started training under Camus when he was about 8, lost his mother when he was 6/7, spent a couple months in transit before being taken in by the Graude Foundation.

If someone actually gets him to talk about that time period he wouldn't be able to give an exact age for anything before meeting Camus probably due to emotional trauma. Even his years training under Camus were a blur but he'll know he met Camus when he was 8 because he just does the math, knowing he trained for 6 years.

THE SERIES ITSELF. I usually assume everything up to the Poseidon arc happens within the span of the same year, maybe a little bit more if you stretch it out. Galaxian Wars and the Black Saints conflict happen back to back, there may be spans of weeks or months between the conflicts that lead up to the Sanctuary. A couple months of recovery between the end of the Sanctuary arc and Asgard I assume and then Poseidon immediately follows (where Saori meeting Julian Solo at the party happens between Sanctuary and Asgard). The part that's really not certain is how much time passes between Poseidon and Hades. I play it as at least a year between the two battles, possibly more. (I ended up settling on 17/18 for Hyoga's age because according to people that's the world saving age, idek)

♒ He was trained in Eastern Siberia, in the Sakha Republic (given the presence of the polar bears he was pretty far north). He also lives there now when he's not saving the world but Hyoga was probably not born in the same region though he doesn't remember where exactly. (somewhere where the weather wasn't quite as harsh and with a denser population) He also spent a few months in an orphanage in Vladivostok before being kidnapped by Grandpa Kido's henchmen.

During his training years I imagine he migrated during the summer to cooler areas since inland can get pretty hot even if the summer is brief. That or they cooled the area for training but that sounds kind of disruptive to the environment :|a BASICALLY, he had no summer to speak of for 6 years or so.

♒ He was home schooled before his mom died and well after being tossed into Saint training he didn't really have traditional schooling but I imagine Camus taught him the basics of science and mathematics. He probably picked up a decent amount from books as well. I kind of imagine Camus purposely left books around that were suitable for Hyoga to read for things that he wasn't comfortable with teaching.

♒ fluent in Russian, Greek, and Japanese. He also knows bits of French. Russian obviously is his mother tongue. Greek was necessary during his training, mostly he was taught by Camus (and maybe some was pounded into him and the other orphans before training). Japanese is interesting, I imagine his mother tried to teach him some in preparation for moving to Japan to find his father but I don't imagine she would have been fluent enough to teach him properly. Though he speaks fluently as an adult, part of the reason he was ostracised amoung the orphans is probably because he couldn't communicate that well with them. French he learned bits of on his own in an indirect/roundabout way of trying to please his mentor.

A NOTE ON LANGUAGE: I kind of pretend that for most of the series they are speaking Greek (except maybe early on during the Tournament and when it's just the Bronze kids) because why the hell would Aiolia speak Japanese?

♒ Despite Russian Orthodox Christianity being the dominant religion I'll say Hyoga and his mother are Roman Catholic due to the rosary she left him as a keepsake. Hyoga was baptised soon after birth but has never been confirmed for obvious reasons.

♒ competent cook! Probably mostly learned in his training years. When Camus was away he'd probably visit the nearby village more often and was taught by some of the ladies (whom he was eager to do well for since they reminded him of his mammaaaa). Mostly stuff that keeps since he probably literally lived out of an icebox (an actual box made of ice) most of the time. And some soups to keep warm. So standard Russian/Siberian food.
